Every bookdragon has imagined this at some point, we’re here craving an endless book supply, a bookdragon to fall for and an assassin to protect us from our TBR pile. So this post idea and another one which you’ll see at some point, came from a chat on the New Bloggers discord server. Basically we were talking about dating, and then someone said about wanting to date someone who likes the same genres as them. To which I was like BUT HAVE YOU THOUGHT LONG TERM. (they hadn’t)
Get comfy, as I take us on a journey of if two readers fell in love and dated…
Disclaimer: This may or may not be accurate, dependant on the two readers. Also I’m doing this through highlighting “milestones” in a relationship.
You see them out of the corner of your eye, using your book as a shield, you sneak glances at them. They’re usually sat in the café for a good hour, listening to music you always thought. Every time you saw them your stomach felt all weird…
Looking back down at your book, you continued reading, pushing them out of your mind. When you saw shoes appear in front of you, then someone sit next to you outside. Swallowing, you pretended to ignore them, like they weren’t making your heart race.
“Hey…I’ve um read that book. What do you think of it so far?” they asked you, glancing up at them, you mumbled “I like the characters…”
They smiled “I loved <insert character name> so much, have you erm heard of this book?”
“You read?” you asked stunned, they chuckled “I love reading, though I’m usually listening to audio books out here.”
They’re a reader. Wow…your ideal partner because well they’ll understand your core. Who you are as a person, smiling at them you began chatting away.
“Have you decided yet? It’ll be my treat.” they grinned, as you both stood in the bookshop. Frowning you glanced between two books, which one should you get.
They noticed you eyeing the two books, instead of waiting for you to pick one, they just grabbed both of the books. Laughing when you protested about the cost, they reminded you it was your first date.
Before they got to the checkout though, they spotted a dent in one of the books, so naturally they rushed off to get the more pristine edition for you. You smiled to yourself, thinking about how only a reader would understand that quirk.
You were over at your place, you had headphones on listening to music whilst you read your book. Flipping another page, you gasped as one of your favourite characters got hurt.
“Who died?” they asked, they were sat next to you reading their book. You mumbled leaning on them “<insert character> just got hurt…I swear if this author kills them off I’m complaining on twitter.”
You paused looking at them, realising they were staring at you, you muttered “Why are you staring at me?”
“I’m not.” they replied leaning closer, your eyes widened slightly just as they kissed you.
I Love You…More Than My Books?
You were cuddling on a sofa, watching TV when you heard them say “I love you.”
Looking up at them you teased “You love your books more though.”
“…I love you more than my books then.” they smiled hugging you tightly.
Moving In Together
“Are we really doing this?” they asked you nervously.
Glancing at them you said “Yep. Remember, no merging the books. I have my bookcases, you have yours.”
They chuckled “I know, you’ve only said it a million times.”
“Have not.” you chuckled as you walked into your bedroom together.
They grinned “This is gonna be so much fun. Also the lighting is great.”
“You and your bookstagram obsession.” you teased good naturedly.
They looked at you “Can we have rainbow-”
“You can. But leave my babies out of your rainbow hold. Series must stay together always.” you sniffed.
“I can’t believe you!” you yelled at them, they argued back “It looks pretty!”
You snorted “PRETTY? MY SERIES ARE SPLIT UP! YOU’RE A MONSTER!”
Your friend sighed “Seriously, they just reorganised your books in a rainbow.”
“You wouldn’t understand.” you snapped, glaring at your partner who huffed “It’s just a rainbow.”
You growled “JUST A RAINBOW? MY BOOKS…I CAN’T. GET OUT OF MY SIGHT I CAN’T EVEN LOOK AT YOU.”
1 Year Anniversary
“I know you’ve been after this book for a while, so here, happy 1 year anniversary.” they said passing you the book you’ve been after for so long.
Grinning you hugged them tightly. Then passed them the book, they’d also been after for ages. Along with a few bookmarks of course, because you can never have too many bookmarks.
*peers out from her den* Oh wow…erm hi. This post has made me terrified because it’s unlike anything I’ve done. It’s also kinda showing you how I write *hides* anyway, I hope you at least enjoyed this post? Let me know if you did and if you’d like another one but about book bloggers dating or writers…or you can suggest something else and if I do it I’ll shout you out for credit!
