I found this tag HERE and thought it looked like fun, so here we go. I have to say I am a fan of the older Disney movies. I’m not so keen on the new animation for the more recent ones, they creep me out a bit. Haha.
‘Tale as Old as Time’ – A popular theme, trope or setting you will never get bored of reading
Love triangle. Even though I do complain about it A LOT if it’s not done well, I also do enjoy a well written love triangle.
Belle – A book you bought for it’s beautiful cover that’s just as beautiful inside too
Damn. I don’t know I don’t always buy books just for their covers and if I have done I usually won’t have read it yet. (I know I’m smart aren’t I?) Ok well I bought The Mortal Instruments in the new covers, in the box set because I love the covers and it’s still sealed. And obviously the stories are amazing (lowkey prefer The Infernal Devices but hey ho)
Beast – A book you didn’t expect much from but pleasantly surprised you
I usually go in with low expectations to be honest, only so then I’m not disappointed that it didn’t live up to my expectations. BUT…honestly didn’t expect much from A Shadow Bright and Burning by Jessica Cluess and I was surprised. And am still mad over the fact my library doesn’t have the sequel in *sighs heavily* at least I have a library though.
Gaston – A book everyone loves but you don’t
….Paper Towns by John Green. I just couldn’t stand it, I wanted to punch several characters into the next millennium.
Lefou – A loyal sidekick you can’t help but love more than their counterpart
Ha I don’t technically have one for this in terms of books per say, but in Batman I prefer Robin to Batman.
Mrs. Potts, Chip, Lumiér, and Cogsworth – A book that helped you through a difficult time or that taught you something valuable
All my books taught me something, gave me something and helped me through my life. I think perhaps the one that will always have a place in my heart is The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare along with the Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine. AND Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill the latter because they Adult books. And I didn’t realise they were until much later on, it never occurred to me because the writing was so good and there was banter, seriousness, and romance.
‘Something There’ – A book or a series that you weren’t into at first but picked up towards the end
Fated by Alyson Noel. I was very much into it but it was a bit slow in the beginning, once it got started it was amazing. It’s a quartet and Alyson Noel is best known for her Immortals series which in my opinion…has nothing on her Soul Seekers series which is what Fated is from.
‘Be Our Guest’ – A fictional character you’d love to have over for dinner
Like none of them, all my options would mean things would get damaged. Unless I chose Tessa and we had a chat about books haha.
If you’d like to read more book tags I’ve done/created HERE is my catalogue of them all. I hope you enjoyed reading this tag 🙂
Funnily enough, the love triangle seems to be THE trope I can never deal with at all 😀 😀 😀

Haha I think love triangles are probably overused in YA (I can’t speak for Adult as I don’t read Adult books really). The problem is, writers forget that you don’t need a love triangle to create tension and drive a story. It get’s old pretty quickly -a relationship growing without the need of a second potential love interest is enough if you flesh out the characters.
But that’s just coming from someone who also writes, I get where the idea of a love triangle usually stems from and they are fun to write about. I just think the trope needs a breather haha

The love triangle trope gives me anxiety and heartburn! 🙂 I loved the Chicagoland Vampires too. There are a lot of mixed feelings on that one, but I loved it. Have every one of them signed. She’s a great author. Thanks for the tag! I’m always on the hunt for a good one!
