Unpopular Opinions ~ Book Tag

So this should be interesting haha, this is a tag that’s been on BookTube for ages now. But you know, nothing like having tons of tags to do. So here we go, oh and if you want to watch the original video click HERE  lets dive into this tag.

1 – A Popular book or series that you didn’t like.

Paper Towns by John Green, I read it but oh lord did I resent most of the characters. And History is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera, I got to page 70 something I believe, and I couldn’t deal with it. The way it was structured, past and present backa nd forth really got to me. Maybe I’ll pick it up again in the future to read, as I really do want to love it.

2 – A Popular book or series that every one else seems to hate but you love.

Mine is an odd one, its not that everyone hates it, its more no one has really read it. Its an underrated series and that’s Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill. I love this series so damned much, and its not just about vampires and its not full of stupid tropes. Its so much more than that I mean the main character Merit is badass and is 21…maybe. She’s in her 20’s, point is my mum read the series at the same time as me and both of us love it.

3 – A Love Triangle where the main character ended up with the person you did
NOT want them to end up with (warn ppl for spoilers) OR an OTP that you don’t like.

OTP I disliked strongly was Rose and Dimitri from The Vampire Academy. Yes I know, I’m stupid, it took me until book 6 for me to think ‘actually Adrian deserves someone who loves him and only him’ (totally not thinking I’d be that girl)

4 – A popular book Genre that you hardly reach for.

I read most things really, but I’ve never been into the classics as such, not my thing really. Although I do want to get into them at some point, and read them.

5 – A popular or beloved character that you do not like.

Simon from The Mortal Instruments. He just annoys me for some reason, I’m not sure why but there’s something about him that always makes me roll my eyes.

6 – A popular author that you can’t seem to get into.

Rick Yancey, I read The Fifth Wave and I do want to read the rest of the series but its not a priority. More on the back burner if I end up having some free time to read books that aren’t amazingly wonderful.

7 – A popular book trope that you’re tired of seeing. (examples “lost princess”, corrupt ruler, love triangles, etc.)

Ahem *clears throat* I’m not sure if this a trope per say, but it does crop up a lot in books, ‘love cures all’ and love ‘makes you complete’. That is total crap.

You are complete and whole on your own, you don’t need no one to make you complete, if anything they should be complementing you and making you burn brighter, and you them. Love doesn’t cure everything, and I also hate it when the guy kisses the girl when she’s mad at him; and like that *snaps fingers* he forgiven even though the girl tries to ‘weakly’ fight back she gives in. What would make my day is if she continued to fight back then say ‘kissing me doesn’t change a damn thing or make me forget!’ Now that would impress me.

8 – A popular series that you have no interest in reading.

*hides behind a million walls and force fields* Harry Potter…ok I know I’ve never read it but in my defense I read a different series which is similar to Harry Potter but from what I’ve seen from the films of Harry Potter is better. Before you all kill me, I just want to say I’m a Slytherclaw, I did get sorted. I just don’t have any interest in reading the series.

In case you’re interested in the series I read it was Charlie Bone by Jenny Nimmo. I loved the series and I want to reread it at some point, it just takes me back to my childhood.

9 – The saying goes “The book is always better than the movie”, but what movie or T.V. show adaptation do you prefer more than the book?

The Maze Runner, hands down, honestly I liked the first book. I didn’t even finish The Scorch Trials and haven’t read the Death Cure but I know what happens to Newt and I’m not ok about that.

Good news is we all have different tastes, so books I may love you may not and books you may love I may not. However one of my best friends (whose a total bookworm like me) we literally have the same tastes in books. Its amazing, books I hate she also hates, and books I love she loves. It makes for entertaining phone calls. I hope you enjoyed this tag, let me know what surprised you in the comments and your answers to the questions. Do you agree with any of my answers?
